Our Story
It started with a single magazine, Turf , whose mission was to cover the various sectors of the turfgrass industry. Twenty years and several launches and acquisitions later, Moose River Media is a leading business-to-business media company serving the professional lawn and landscape, tree care, light construction, forestry and agricultural industries.
What evolved into Moose River Media started in 1987 as a partnership between two friends. Headquartered in the beautiful hills of northeastern Vermont, Moose River was founded and remains today in St. Johnsbury (www.discoverstj.com). By 1998 we were ready to grow the company to the next level and sold what was then called Moose River Publishing to a Boston-based venture capital company. After several successful years of growth, we were acquired in 2005 by Topspin Partners (www.topspinlbo.com), a private equity firm located in Long Island, N.Y.
Today, as Moose River Media, we offer a variety of media solutions to the industries that we serve; print and digital magazines, high-traffic electronic media, custom communications, proprietary research and much more. Our magazine brands include Turf, Superintendent, Landscape Construction, Tree Services, SportsField Management, Forest Products Equipment, Growing and Farming . We also publish the Moose River Media Sourcebook , an annual directory of products that covers all of the industries that we serve.
Moose River Media also offers several online communities: PlowSite.com , for the snow and ice industry; SuperintendentSite.com , for the professional golf course superintendent; LandscapeConstructionSite.com , serving light construction, hardscape and landscape design and build professionals; and the largest community and most visited Web site in the Green Industry, LawnSite.com .
We're honored to be one of our region's largest employers and equally proud of our experienced and well-tenured staff. In fact, our employees average nearly seven years of service to the company.
With numerous launches and acquisitions in the planning stages, we're excited about our future and look forward to serving the green industry for many years to come!
